How Dental Benefits Generally Work
A dental benefit plan may help pay for eligible dental services according to its terms. Plans differ in the services they include, how much they pay, and the limits that apply. Benefits may cover only part of the cost of care.
Terms you may see in your plan
- Deductible: an amount you may need to pay before benefits apply to certain services.
- Annual maximum: the maximum amount a plan may pay during a benefit year.
- Coinsurance or benefit percentage: how eligible costs are divided between the plan and the patient.
- Limitations: plans may have waiting periods, frequency limits, or exclusions for certain services.

Patients with Dental Benefit Plans Are Welcome
You are welcome to contact San Diego Bay Dental if you have a dental benefit plan. Welcoming patients with plans does not guarantee benefits for a particular visit or treatment. Your plan’s terms determine any benefit payment.
When planning treatment, consider both your dental needs and any applicable benefits. Questions about your plan and potential patient costs can be discussed before you proceed with care.
